Quite the opposite. I switched to 225/45/17 to help correct the speedo. On the stock 215s the speedometer was way off. You can set the speedo at 70mph but multiple GPS monitors will show you are going 66ish.
I'm going to have to check that out next time I get on the freeway.

Most cars run conservative. My CT shows 2mph slower at around 45-50mph. I know because the digital sign I drive by that pegs your speed as you drive by lol. Same thing in my IS200t. And same thing in my past BMWs. Around the same. The delta gets wider as you go faster though. but not by much.
The car makers possibly do this to account for tire wear? A theory. They certainly wouldn't want to be held accountable for all their customer's speeding tickets. imagine all the claims.
Or could be to save you from getting speeding tickets. Both are pluses I guess
