Stock speakers question
I’m getting new speakers and a double din installed on Monday. I told the guy that will be doing the install to not discard any items or boxes after the install is complete. He said the stock speakers will be no good after they are removed. Just would like to know if this is true? Thanks.
I have a 2015. Non premium speakers. No navigation.

Tell him its none of his business whether they are good, not good, he pulls out a plastic seahorse, a soccerball etc. You are entitled to your property.
He's just trying to lie to you so he can keep the old parts and make some money off the back end on craigslist. No explanation needed, just tell him you want your stock parts. Period. End of story. No negotiations.

And for the record, he's full of S. It's not true.

I believe only the premium system w/ the nav would have an external amp.
I know my non-premium has just a standard head unit and no external amp.
I added my own.
What head unit are you going with and are you keeping stock steering wheel controls w/ phone controls (pick up/hangup) too.

I’m getting a Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX installed. Yea I’m also keeping the stock steering wheel controls. Also adding another USB port so I can use both CarPlay and Android Auto. I don’t have an android phone. But it’s nice to have both available just in case.

I was under the impression there were three audio options: standard, 10-speaker premium w/ sub, and premium + nav.
We have the premium with sub but no nav. I would think if you have a sub, you’d have an external amp, but I don’t know for sure.
if you plug your vin into here (https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrive.../vehicle-specs) it will tell you if the stereo was upgraded.
With as cagey as these installers seem to be, you sure you want them doing the work?

It just says 6 speakers. I know I don’t have a subwoofer. Would it specify it has an amp if it did? Does yours specify you have an amp when you put in your VIN?

Unfortunately it doesn’t specify a sub or an amp. However the 10th speaker is the sub (one in each door, three across the dash, one tweeter in each post, and a sub. Most head units don’t have enough power to drive a sub, so that’s why I’m assuming I have one and standard wouldn’t. But I also have no clue where it’s located. In our truck the amp is right next to the sub. I’ll try and go look by the sub shortly.

Thanks spiral. I don’t think my system would have one since I don’t have a sub. But I’m wondering now why is that I can purchase an amp that’s meant for the non premium speakers/ no navigation. I wonder if there is more speaker packages when purchasing the vehicle. I bought the car used so idk.
