Default Speaker upgrade

Been following the good results of speaker swaps, so I thought to give it a change.
My car has 10-speaker system.

I swapped two front corner 3.5" and front doors 6x9"

3.5" swapped to Coral DLC 87 and Focal has direct factory replacement IC690TOY speakers as 6x9.
I can really recommend the Focal speakers as they are raised to factory high to seal the speaker against door and they have stock type of connector, so now wire work needed.

Door speakers were a direct swap, so there is not much to talk about =)

But with dash speakers I noticed that the surrounding area of the speaker is open.
Stock speaker seals to grille, but aftermarket speaker sits so much lower that its not sealing.
This will reduce the sound quality for the 3.5" element, but obviously discant would increase.

So I used sound deadener in grill to seal the speaker to the grill.

That would not win the beauty contest, but should do the trick =)
There was a bith fine tuning to ensure that deadener does not touch the element.

After the change it took a while to drive in the 6x9 speakers, but after one week or so, I am pretty pleaced for the sound.
Highs and vocals come really nicely and there is definitely more mid bass.
Still there is a problem that bass is loud at low volumes and then at higher volumes stock stereo is starting to cut the bass and mainly mid and high volumes increase.
So if I adjust sound for my taste at low volumes, there is not much bass at high and if I adjust bass at high volumes, there is excessive bass at low volumes.
Speakers do not help much for that, but still I think that the swap was worth the effort.

Looks like we both do the same mods. you should create a "build" thread like I did so you don't have to make a new thread for every mod you do =) plus easier to find and more fun to read someone's progress..

btw next on your to do list should be Lexus RX350 Bi-Xenon projectors w/ professional OEM Lexus ballasts and german bulbs.

Thanks, I did not realize that there is a project section, I need to check it out.
My model is luxury, this has xenon lights from factory.

Are you sure? I've never heard of factory "xenons" on a CT200h.

All that exists to my knowledge are standard halogen or stock (first generation) twin LED projectors for the top trim...

show what you have. take pictures of the back of the headlights and the headlights themselves. very curious..

Here are few pics of the lights.
Almost all ct200h are sold with xenons here.
I looked the option list for my car, but it only lists led headlights.
Color difference to high beam halogens is huge, so also based on light color they look like xenons.
I would need to take them apart to be sure =)

Here is few pics of the lights, there was not much room at the back to shoot.

After some googling I think that I have dual led lights.
I was wondering the fast ignite of the lights as I just went out side to take a shot about the delayed start.
So it looks like car sellers do not know what they are selling, nor did I understand what I bought =)
