Default Cylinder 1 misfire

Hi all. our 2014 CT starting shaking when first turning on yesterday and by the end of the day the check engine light came on. Took it to AutoZone and the code is a cylinder 1 misfire. I immediately changed all 4 spark plugs in hopes that it would do the trick but no such luck. Thought about doing the ignition coils next but cant imagine the coil has already gone bad at just 75k miles. Anyone have a similar issue? any idea for a fix before I take it in?

Swap # 1 coil to any cylinder (Preferably # 4) and see if the misfire changes to that cylinder.

I had the same problem and it ended up being the head gasket. I didnt want to believe it because I was still getting 40+ mpg and the issue was never consistent enough to fully diagnose. I ended up using Blue Devil Pour-N-Go to seal the head gasket.

There is a Sticky about the issue on the main CT200h page, you can read all about it.

If you end up wanting new coils, I have a new set of Denso coils that I'll sell you for cheap.

The HG problems really haven't been known to affect anything but 175k+ 2011 models. Maybe some 2012. Certainly no 2014 + models that I know of (yet).

Certainly no models period whether prius or CT200h w/ only 75k.

i'd do the coil swap first and see what happens.

you're also in a warm climate which makes it even less likely, did you own the car since new? changed oil on time?

I had read about the head gasket issue and I as well thought there was no way it was the gasket...I was wrong. After swapping coil packs and installing new plugs, the problem was no better. I took it into Lexus where they diagnosed it with a bad head gasket after doing a leak down test. Crazy thing is they had another car, my exact same year, with just over 100k miles in there with the exact same issue. Blows my mind that the gasket went at 75k miles, especially a Lexus/Toyota 4 banger! Dealer quoted just over 4k to fix and any indy shop wanted 2500 or more. Been looking to upgrade to an SUV now that we have a child so I ended up getting rid of it. Wife loves the Q7 so we will be getting one hopefully this week. I have always done my own oil changes, religiously at 5k and always with Mobil 1 full synthetic oil. Usually the high mileage variant. Bought the car with about 25k miles on it.

As big Toyota/Lexus fan, I must admit this shakes my faith in the brand pretty good. If nothing else, it makes me seriously look elsewhere moving forward (Q7 being a prime example).

Sorry to hear, definitely not common. There's plenty of 300k-600k 2010/2011 priuses still banging the highways. Taxi fleets. But i guess it could happen as engines are essentially hand built.

A leak down test would definitely be the way to verify it though so you can trust the diagnosis. Did they say precisely which path the air was leaking through?

BTW... which one was your symptom? My guess is you leaked between cylinders

Default Same issue

Does anyone know the order of cylinders looking at it from the front of the car?

I had a misfire P0302 and unsure. I figured it went 4321.
looking to replace the fuel injector. Does this align or in the same order as the ignition coils/spark plugs?
