Irritating beeps

Irritating beeps
Now that I’m in my new 2015 CT 200h I’m discovering things. The continuous beeping while in reverse is awful and adds a great deal of stress when parallel parking and such. Also the single beep after pushing the “talk” button on the steering wheel is so loud that I find it very painful. These are terrible features and I want them removed. Does anyone know how to do this?

You have a couple options:
1. Get an old laptop, a specialised cable, and a copy of Techstream. You can turn all sorts of stuff on and off as well as aid in lots of repairs yourself. *other forums make this sound easy, but I have found it more challenging
2. Get a bluetooth/wifi ODDB2 scanner and connect it to a smartphone. There are lots of apps out there that will allow you do switch off various alerts (though the car BT beep is a new one for me, don’t think I’ve seen that one).
i have an iPhone and I used the Carista Adapter with their app to turn off the reverse beep. The free version you are limited. The subscription opens up a lot more. There are other apps that also do it, are usually paid apps, and I don’t have experience with them to give 100%. I believe Torque Pro is a decent app. So which adapter and app depends on which device you use. I have a cheap ($7) eBay version that works great with the free apps I have but don’t give the beeping option. The Carista was $20 and their app will turn some things off (but their app sucks for normal usage).

I have an old $50 android phone laying around so I used that to connect w/ a BT dongle (someone recommended it here) and there's an option to disable the beep. I think the app was called dr. prius.
as far as the talk button.. yeah its annoying when it beeps. also annoying that you can't adjust the volume of the phone call from the radio ****. you have to use the steering wheel.

I did spiral's second route, a $12 bluetooth OBDII adapter and the Carista app, had to pay a week subscription for advanced features, where the backup beep option was, there's two options for it, continuous beep (default) and beep once, pretty awesome. Didn't find options for the talk button.

download "dr prius" free app i just used free version. you'll need a compatible OBDII Bluetooth adapter (ebay/Amazon). click on link (buying guide OBD2 adapter) in dr prius. connect adapter to obd2 port, have vehicle on, open app, select name of bluetooth adapter, connect, locate menu drop down, in special features, disable the (on/off) for reverse beep, seat belt beep. (off) reverse will beep once. when shifting into R, seat belts no beeping. also lets see hybrid battery usage, voltage, temp, etc.
......also able read trouble codes and clears codes OBD2 with a different app u can use on other vehicles. l

Odd. I can adjust the phone volume as well as any other from both the **** and the steering wheel. You just have to be quick before you miss it.
About the voice recognition dialog volume: you can adjust this, and you can turn off the voice feedback, which leaves you with only the beep. I can't recall if the beep adjusts in volume as well or not, but I think it does, because I remember noticing how loud and obnoxious it was. It doesn't bother me now.
For those that don't have voice recognition, the beep we're talking about is a confirmation beep that plays to let you know the system is now listening for your command. For example, pressing the button will have the voice say, "What would you like to do?", followed by a beep, where the microphone starts listening for your command. That way you don't speak too early.
