Default Looking at buying ct200h 165k miles

hey guys, so ive come to the conclusion that i do not want to drive my 08 fbo isf daily anymore and while looking for a good daily, i came across a 2012 ct200h fsport with 165k miles. clean title and for $6500, is miles something i should be concerned about, what are things i should ask the owner hes done to make sure the car is a good buy. Any common issues that i should know about and generally if buying a 165000 mile ct200h for a daily, is a good idea. Any info is appreciated. the link is to the listing.

Low maintenance and very reliable. Wouldnt be concerned with the mileage much. I'm new here but you may need an battery the next 5 years or so, maybe not. That part is under warranty another 2 years for you.
I personally would of wanted CVT fluids to be changed by that point, but I don't think its called for and most don't do it, so no biggie.

Here is your only common issue, its a sticky on this forum...

Mileage isn't a concern.. as with any car, verify the oil has been changed on time. The car doesn't need much else. At 120k and beyond, this car would've needed plugs, inverter coolant. Extra points for the EGR cooler servicing. If the guy doesn't know or didn't do it, and if the car runs well (no noises, knocking etc) then you should do that the very moment you take it home. Other than that, not much to see with this car in terms of "was this serviced or that serviced" because there's not much to service. As said, transaxle fluid is good to do. $40 and 30 min of your time.

That particular car looks clean and cared for. the price seems to good to be true.

It even has the Trident wheels...

If the seller allows, you should take it to get it looked at at a local shop just to be safe, but otherwise, maintenance is very inexpensive so you can easily just do whatever it may need.

Only known issues would happen well beyond 200k miles, if not 300k (at least they did for me).

Very strange to see it at that price for a fully-loaded car... I priced out my 2014 at KBB at 600k miles, fully loaded, great condition, and the private seller value is $8,750 to $11,416.

Hopefully it all worked out for you by now. But it is hard to know if it will last or has been damaged. If you heard any kind of knocking or dinging noise then the engine is shot. These Prius engines burn oil and are very sensitive to any shop incorrectly putting in 10W oil instead of 0W oil. Just one time of putting in oil more than 0W will damage the engine and it will start burning oil faster than normal causing it to throw a rod.
If you buy a car like this I would keep a log of oil levels at least weekly. If it looks low then do the oil change sooner, but have the tech measure how much oil was removed.
If you consistecy see faster burning of the oil then in increase your oil change intervals or at least top off on a set schedule. If you can keep it failled faster than it will burn of then the car can last many more years. 1 slipup and you will blow a rod.

Did you buy it? My 2011 Ct200h has 160K miles and in good condition is state to be worth $6,200. Nothing is on the verge of failing. Put all new brake pads on the front and rears last year. Passes all emissions checks. Gets 35 mpg while driving 85 mph to 90 mph on the interstates. It is possible to over over 40 mpg but only in slow stop/go traffic jams. For $6,500 if they changed the brake pads recently then it is worth it. If they did not change the break pads then I would ask $300 less than the asking price.

That price is remarkably low. Its a beauty though, and especially for what year and mileage it is. Seems to be a very attractive deal. Did you buy it? If all the fluids were done and regular oil at regular OCI, then I cannot see why it would be a bad deal. If you did buy it it would not hurt to just buy a new EGR kit and while you're approaching another 100k to just clean you old one out, and keep swapping to keep the lean burn engine clean. Great deal... Suspiciously great.
