Yeah I mean it's an old car based on a 2011 platform which is based on an even older platform.

It is what it is. The CT was only created to comply with US government gas mileage requirements for the fleet offering of Lexus under the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007.
It was a hybrid of existing parts from the Corolla and Prius drivetrain, but technically was the only way to get Corolla Hatchback so people bought it. But now that you can just buy a corolla hatchback for cheaper there is no market anymore for the more expensive CT.
