Default Dashboard signs

Hi all,

Here is a 2012 CT, attaching the video of the issue I am having. It’s been a rough year because I’m having a hard time finding someone who can probably diagnose the car. I’ve had multiple misfiring codes, was told the abs pump needs to be replaced (had that changed using a pre-owned part and issue returned in two months), and have been told rotors and brake pads need to replaced.

The spark plugs were changed but the misfiring issue remained until the ABS issue started. Should I just sell the car? I still owe $5800 on the car. I really enjoyed it and I’ve been without a car for 4 months because of all these issues.

Any advice on what to do and where to start would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ouch. I dont know enough to comment but if you haven't already done so, I would also join Facebook CT groups and ask there since they seem to be a lot more active these forum sites.

Are there any pending codes? Some of those OBD-II scanners will address ABS as well. If you have access to TechStream, I'm sure that would be the most helpful. Where did you have the ABS pump worked on, dealer or independent shop?

Spark plugs aren't the only thing that needs to be addressed with misfires. The ignition coils could be an issues, but also dirty fuel injectors can lead to misfires. How diligent have you been with the oil levels/maintenance? Which cylinders were misfiring?

Unfortunately, you might be upside down on the loan to car value, so I can't advise you on if you should sell the car. You obviously will get less with the warning lights showing

Before all of that you should see what's causing the misfire. could have a blown HG. you'll need a mechanic to check for that. probably clogged EGR, check EGR valve too. could have clogged intake manifold.

looks like the car was not well cared for in terms of the EGR system. lots to check here. consider no ones going to buy a misfiring car with a lit up dashboard, so you may want a competent mechanic diagnose the misfire first

The misfiring codes are P0300, P0301, P0302.
I had the abs pump worked on at an indie shop. I have had regular oil changes at Toyota, but was never asked about the EGR cleaning (I only found that through this forum). I have a buyer willing to pay 4k for the car and even though it is a loss, we are considering selling it. I am not happy to sell but I also don't have the resources to keep diagnosing the car due to changes in financial circumstances. How much does a HG cost? I already had the hybrid battery changed in 2019 which was also expensive, so this person is probably getting a good deal.

with the mileage, misfire locations and state of the EGR, I agree with E46CT and suspect HG. So, more than likely if you keep the car you would have some repair bills in your future that doesn't even address the ABS lights.
