Default ATF WS, cvt trans axle fluid replacement

SO WOW was my reaction draining old ATF, here is the Toyota ATF WS old/new, also drained ATF only measured 3.0-3.1qts. capacity is 3.6qts when replacing or filling ATF WS. initially i used 3.75-almost 4qts. let fluid level out, sealed filler and drain plugs. check for leaks none found. drive around til next day. recheck ATF by opening filler plug. its started draining close to 1/8-1/4 of fluid back out. think it settled to 3.6qts as stated in complete technical repair manual.

no description needed. smh but glad i did it and know replacing ATF like brake fluid/coolant etc.
thanks "ct200h" forum with recommendations tips and opinions. but only as good DIY researching all info i can find. i still can't believe that it doesn't ever need servicing. It should have been done way sooner. idk why that there's no mention about it,only very last page indexes entire owners manual only states its sealed transmission doesn't need service. i search in the lexus service/maintenance manual. didn't find where to change thought maybe lexus/toyota cvt hybrids trans was excellent engineering lol smh but this forum always best informative ct drivers. since hitting the 100k in 2014 ct200h. im doing every all service myself DIY so correct intervals for services and replacement fluids etc and EGR valve cooler intake cleaning. by pure luck i found the only forum on club lexus (ct200h). but only recently did i find out about these issues and concerns if plans to keep ct200h for long time, most of really important maintenance issues are discussed. so thanks ct200h community y'all the real MVP VIP lol.

Whenever the manufacturer says "lifetime" in terms of service, they mean what they consider is the lifetime of the car, which is usually something like 10 years or 100k miles, which is when most people in the US get rid of their cars or stop driving them. I change my trans fluid every 100k.

I posted something like this on my 2015 F Sport, i changed the transaxle fluid at 38,500 miles and around 4 years of age (the car, not me) and it was pretty dark/black.

I'd be willing to bet as nasty as it looks, it's not a big deal for the transaxle. Not a lot of heat or pressures on the transaxle as it's sort of comparable to a manual gearbox where you can bang out 200,000+ miles on it (i know cause i've done it) on the original fluid with zero issues.

We know there's plenty of 600,000 mile banger fleet priuses that have never seen a change. so transaxle issues aren't really a thing. but still, it's satisfying to know there's nice fresh pink fluid in there and peace of mind is a good deal at $50 (including the new bolt and crushwasher)

yea i pretty much use my ct like those fleet priuses, both business and pleasure lol. no concern for miles or time driven. i moonlight with doordash currently but food delivery driver since 2019. most time, its pretty much leisurely driving around, but there are many times the ct200h sport performance really comes out and show it race track abilities around and on various roadways and driving conditions when needed. my point i guess is, i should know of known better nothing last forever but it was fun while it still last, PSA check your fluids lol.
