FYI: Solved - Front End Clicking on CT - 158,000 kms
Hi there,
Just posting for information; had some clicking on the driver's front corner. Was initially torn between brake booster or drive-line, based on some posts here. Symptom was an apparent clicking while braking, down below 30 km/h. Could put the car in neutral during braking and it would stop.
Did the front wheel bearing and CV shaft (they're cheap, why not while you're in there!) and it's all gone.
Happy wrenching!

Glad to help! The CV shaft was probably unnecessary, but when I had the shaft removed from the bearing and gave it a spin, the wheel bearing definitely had a cyclic click to it.

I went through this with my 15 F Sport. It's actually NOT the bearing, but the CV joint on the axle. I pulled apart the axle myself (DIY) and repacked the bearing with new grease and like magic the click went away.

Is it a loud click? Also started noticing this around the same mileage range... what a coincidence!
I think I may have had the same thing. However, shortly afterwards, I ended up rustproofing the car and that did in the brakes - so I no longer knew which is which.
In the mean time I had a rattling heat shield so I ripped that out as well.
I replaced the brakes all around, and there's still a faint click randomly. God I feel like an idiot reading this... never thought to check the CV joints.

Maybe but my background does include many bearing & axle changes. So i've taken both apart and know how they work across various models and makes. RWD press-in bearings too which are not fun..
I've seen many Priuses with the click click click coming from the front as you come to a stop. On Prius forums, it's often resolved with a replacement CV joint/axle.
Wheel bearings will usually emit a roar/whir. But can depend on your typical failure mode. The axle is common on the prius, often the driver's side.
