Rust Starting on the CT
Hello folks,
I bought a used 2015 CT from a local dealer a few months ago (approx. 116,000kms). Everything checked out great during my pre purchase inspections.....but from what I've now discovered, I wish I had removed the wheel well liners before making my decision.
What led me to look here was a tiny bubble of paint on the wheel arch; no big sweat. As I began sanding and cleaning, the rust continued. Finally, I removed the wheel liner and discovered even more rust behind it. I've notified Lexus Canada and I'm heading in to the dealer shortly. Will update with what happens.
But please, check your wheel arches and behind your liners, we could be into a much broader flaw. Let your dealers/corporate offices know!

That should be pretty easy to fix. The rust looks pretty shallow. some light sanding and spray paint (mask off surrounding external paint area) should easily fix that. Any re paints in that area? are you the original owner? All it would take is a pretty gnarly rock chip around the tire to start the spread of that. Also it looks like the steel is bent around that area (see the lip) so perhaps you ran over an object or an object hit the area.

if it were me i'd get a drill and wire wheel and go to town. and just recoat it, maybe apply some rock chip coating first.

For sure, not too worried about what's on the arch per se; that's easily fixable. What's not shown well is that the rust on the inner body portion is about to pop through the panel. It's deeeep Hoping they'll cover it all under perforation warranty. I'll check the other wheel wells to see if there's a pattern.
No reported accidents on it, I'm owner #2. Lexus corporate was keen to have mine looked at since rust on CT's doesn't seem to be a thing.

If that was in the southern United States, where I reside, I would be mortified with that low of mileage. But with you being in Canada I would just assume that more-or-less comes with the territory with many cars. If I had to guess,I would assume it is a factory paint defect in that area exacerbated by the current climate and road conditions the vehicle is operated in. For the record, I too have not heard of rust being an issue on these vehicles, with what I can assume is partially is due to their newer production age and typically owner demographic.
