Hella supertones installed
Hello Folks.
I wanted these horns to blast deers and lame drivers. Mission accomplished with these Hella horns lol. it's also helpful having super loud horns in a small car. Those big *** trucks might not see you... but now they'll def be able to hear you.
The kit comes with 2 horns and a relay. The CT doesn't need the relay so you can set it aside. This is a straight plug and play upgrade!
1.)Take off the cover thing and you can see the stock horns there. ( i have the driver side one removed already. If i recall right, it's just a 12mm socket you'll need. just start to unscrew the bolt holding it and then get your hands in there. Unplug the horn.
This is what the stock horn looks like and there is the port where you plug it in.
2.) Wire up the ground for the hella supertone: (We wrapped the other end in electrical tape later)
3.) Sandwich in the ground wire there and screw the bolt in. it might be easier to also plug in the horn before screwing it in all the way. Either way, you'll be able to plug/unplug it while its attached. It barely fit!
This is a comparison of the supertone and stock horn (Yes i know that's a bad paint job, I just used spray paint and the weather was being lame. But it's ok, you can't really see it behind the grill and i also repainted it to white.)
4.) Repeat process for the passenger side horn. Except you'll have to bend down this tab a little to make the horn fit.
5.) Honk the car to make sure they work! you can also honk 1 at a time if you'd like.
The completed product in white!

i like that the CT horn sounds like a horn.
unlike the honda civic which is a little girly beep beep.
how much does this cost?
how much louder than stock is it?
is the pitch/sound about the same, but just louder? or does it sound like a truck horn?
i want my car to scream GTFO rather than just say it

how much louder than stock is it? much louder and much more obnoxious. when you need to be heard you will be heard. each horn is 118 dB lmao.

check out this video... these horns are popular in subies.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XLULsqTIpA go to 20 sec mark for the supertones horn. it's just like that but louder in person

OLD thread but found it via looking for hella super tons with our car.
You should 100% use the relay when installing these horns. They definitely pull more amps than the stock horns do. Plus, it's easy to wire them, safer and no chance of stock wiring shorting out or frying.
RELAY:
Pin 30: + Battery. Use the bolt that is under the front fuse box of the car. That's a 12v source. I used it for the projector retrofit relay harness along with a battery tender charger cable.
Pin 86: Signal wire from existing horn harness. Doesn't matter which one of the two horns. Use this with a wire extension and then cover the other plug since you won't be using it.
Pin 85: Ground
Pin 87: + wire to horns
Ground each horn to the bracket that it's attached to via the mounting on the front that is touching the metal on the car body.
I'll post an update once I do this on the face lifted ct's with some pics. I love supertones. I will most likely paint the red grills blue to keep with the hybrid theme.
