Default 1/4 mile time

is anyone else surprised by the listed 1/4 time for a IS-F? I figured it would easily do low 12's with new engine. What gives with that? I mean you can get pretty close to a 12 second 1/4 mile with a IS350 right?

hm...the car is heavier...but I seem to notice that you like to flame the IS-F...always with these post saying how bad or whatever the car is...I mean it is a good car and for lexus first attempt at a high performance car, they did a pretty good job.

I am sorry guys. You are right about my posts lately. I am just bummed after my test drive with the car. Don't take offense on the posts. They are reasonable questions with a performance car where they are competing against M3.

problem is the weight i think. and there could be other factors too including traction, launch, etc... of course we should see more results to get the "avg" idea, and compare that to results from m3 and c63

The IS-F should be capable of low 12s. Give it time, the car just came out. The IS350 has been out for a few years.

I think it may be a traction thing. If it had a stick and better launch capabilities than we could have better numbers. This car should be mid 12's I would think on average for a "good" driver.

You have to push the car (hard) to really appreciate the difference between the IS F and the IS 350. I've own a bunch of Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and one Ferrari besides all the Lexus in my sig. You won't be able to properly judge on just a normal test drive.

It very well may be a traction issue, but stick has nothing to do with it. Stickier or wider tires than stock may help with launching and give the car more traction.

Wait for the IS-F R to come out they should be shaving off about 200lbs in the weight department.

I think low 12's would be a stretch. I think that as time passes we might see best times in the 12.4 - 12.6 range. Reserve these times for cars that have weight removed, drag radials, 1/8 gas, etc. Bone stock, off the showroom floor, your looking at a good solid 12.7 with a good driver.

I took my stock F to the drag strip on Thursday and did eight passes. I did all passes in sport mode with traction control off. My best run that I had was a 13.03@109.44. I was hoping to get into the 12's but no luck.

That 12 second 1/4 mile seems to be a tough thing these days to achieve.

gcollier: did you do the runs in manual mode or auto mode? The manual mode is a full 3/10's or MORE faster!!! One more BIG thing is DA. What DA did you run it in?
