How good is your sound system?

I was certainly content with the overall sound-quality of the stock system in my 99, however I felt it was seriously lacking the kind of bass I like (I'm a huge homeaudio fanatic)....however I really didn't want to change the overall appearance of the interior cabin, so a new HU was out of the question.
While a new HU would have been nice for the sound quality gain, i simply added two polk mm2104's (10's) in a custom built box which allows me to still be able to access the trunk passage into the interior of the vehicle as I often put hockey sticks through it.....power by a JL 500/1 amp, the thing really pounds, atleast enough to satisfy me. It delivers far more bass than the average person can tolerate for any sustainable amount of time, so what more do you need? Well, I am planning on having some sound deadening material lined throughout the trunk in the spring, and i stilll have yet to remove the factory sub (which should bring even more bass into the compartment), but other then that, I think I'll stay where I am for now. If the Polks start to misbehave I'll likely opt for a single W7 (which in retrospect I should have done before) to save a little space. Overall, the stock system is pretty solid, but if your a bass kind guy, don't miss out on the fun, a solid sub and a solid amp and your set.....although I think Hoebag has the right idea with a cap, as I have had nothing but power-supply issues eversince the stereo went in.....hmmmm.

Because i was so spoiled to having a cd player in my dash I changed it out with my alpine competition deck a couple days after buying my car. In addition i am a fan of full range sound so i added 2, 15" punch solo subs in a sealed box powered by a Rockford Fosgate 1000w amp. My next upgrade i am changing out for a newer alpine 7" screen with Ipod control. But the sound is definately nice. Im always being asked if the speakers are stock. Happy to say, they are stock. If i changed them out it would be with a 3 component set of MB quart 8" speakers.

well i just had an accident but i had a pretty nice system until then. i have 4 Orion 12 in. XTR3's a Rockford Fosgate Chrome 500.2. i have an Infinty component set in the doors and Infinity 6x9's powered by an Orion Cobalt. It runs through the good ole Coustic XM3E crossover( thank god for the bass ***). I've got an Audio Control w/2 Optima batteries. It's fitted w/sound deading so it doesn't sound like a big fart coming down the road.

I drove for my car for almost a year before adding bass. I left the headunit alone the only addition I made to the stock system on my 2000 ES is a 12" infinity sub powered by 250/1 JL amp with the extreme dynamat trunk kit. The sound deadening is so good you cant hear a thing outside the car with the volume 2/3 rds the way up, but get in and shut the door and its thumpn

I have a 95 es300, the standard stereo is OK for its age. What impressed me was the amount of midbass the 6.5's in the doors produce, i doubt you'd find a better stock system in a car for this price range, although its definetly not Sound Quality comp material

I am still using the factory radio with the indash 6 disc changer. I put in all new speakers and added some subs and it sounds great. Gives it that extra kick that the factory sound was missing.
Switched all the factory speakers to the Pioneer 4Way Speakers
2 x 12" L7 Kicker Solobaric Subwoofers
2 Rockford amps
1 Rockford Digital capacitor

UPDATE: upgraded my old alpine cd player to the new CDA-9851 with ipod module and 60gb ipod. In addition to the factory speakers Im still running 2 solo 15" in a sealed box with a 1000watt mono Rockford Fosgate amp. Also had to change the alternator.
Im very very happy with the quality and volume that i can acheive with this new gear. ![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
