Default ES 300 CEL and transmission issues

When my Traction Control is lit up my Check Engine light is on as well and the car will not shift into Overdrive. Any suggestions?

What year and model do you have? I may not know what you mean regarding overdrive.

You may want to go to AutoZone or some place like that and have your codes read.

2000 ES300. Once I get up to speed the transmission seems to be still wound up. The RMPs stay above 3 and higher as the speed increases.

Hello,

A Traction Control Light will always appear with a CEL in those cars, it likely means that you have some fault code stored in the system, and considering the fact that it disabled O/D indicates that it is a severe issue, and you need to deal with it as soon as possible. Go to any car parts store and ask them to read stored codes, they will do it for free, and post them here, otherwise we will be fighting the windmills here.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
