$275 for a ####ing key???
Anyone else run into this? I'm wondering if this dealership is ripping me off or key replacement is this insane now. Unfortunately it's the only one in my area.
Update: after numerous calls and searches, found a key shop who did it for less and offered an even much cheaper price for a key that wouldn't have the remote aspect - I chose that as a second key. Still, can't believe the cost of keys.

I have used this company for replacement keys(shells cut specific to my car). Removed the internal control from the broken key, placed it in the new shell
At the time, they could cut the key based on Lexus id (which I had) or a photo of existing key.

That is pretty standard at a Lexus dealer. The previous owner of my 2000 spent $195 for a valet key without a remote in November of 2018, back when prices of things were normal....
To get a new key in my 2002 Prius(from Toyota) is over 1k because the computer has to be replaced.
Be thankful you have a normal Toyota which can be programmed by opening the door a few times.
Another option similar to the first reply is... You could just buy a blank from a Lexus dealer on eBay, have it cut by an independent shop, then program it yourself.
Good luck!

Just the metal replacement key that slides inside the fob for the LC 500 is $90.00 from the dealer. 😱

I've done tons of research on this topic when I saw the price tag. Cheapest route is those key machines in the grocery store. When you get to the end of the estimate, say you dont want it and it offers you a discount. Came out to $55 for a key with no remote buttons. Ace hardware wanted $100 for the same key and $275 with the 3 remote buttons. The cheapest OEM key replacement with 3 buttons was Car Keys Express which were posted up at my local Costco which was $200. Facebook marketplace has lots of local locksmiths. Check there as well.
