What Lexus es 300/330 from 2002 to 2006 uses premium gas?
Hey guys. I’m in the market for a es 300 or es 330 from 2002-2006. I’d like to know what fuel grade they recommend from the factory. I see mixed information on the internet so I’ll go with what the manual or factory wants me to use. I’d like to know who owns these cars that can assist me with this information. I find it odd that fuel economy site shows the 2006 es 330 using premium fuel while previous years do not.

Hello,
That generation was a little confusing in terms of Fuel Grade to use, as pre-facelift models required the use of Premium gas, while the post-facelift ones were okay with just regular if I remember correctly, all the Owners Manuals can be found here if you are interested.
That said, it's not like Premium gas can hurt the engine, in fact it's quite the opposite. At least in my area the price difference is not too substantial, and over time it turned out that any savings I made with Regular gas would quickly cancel out with a better fuel economy gained from Premium gas, so unless the petrol is prohibitively expensive in your area, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

They are 10.5:1 and 10.8:1 on the compression respectively for the e300 and e330. That being said they CAN run 87 octane but they will detonate slightly and the computer will retard the timing which reduces some power. These cars run noticeably better on 93 octane. By seat of the pants it's easily 10-15 HP and similar torque.
