Default Magnetic clutch won’t engage

A/c doesn’t work and only blows cold if I jump the magnetic clutch relay. Clutch won’t engage when a/c button is pressed. Car has never been in an accident. It just stopped all of a sudden. Can someone point me in another direction? I’m out of ideas at this point.

To date, I’ve verified:

Changed out a compressor with a new one.
Changed out climate control unit with one used.
Solar sensor is functioning (no codes on climate control unit).
Pressure switch works (fans engage once disconnected).
System vacuumed and leak tested.
New Denso magnetic clutch relay (old and new relay audibly clicks).
All fuses checked.
No broken wires (clutch engages when jumped at relay).

It’s a 1999 Es300 with motor and trans from 2001 es300. A/c stopped working prior to swap.

Hello,

Which Compressor did you get?

Here is a thread on a similar issue, it turned out being the Compressor Speed Sensor, also referred to as Lock-Up Sensor, which is there to disengage the clutch in case if the compressor was to lock up due to a malfunction, preventing damage to the Belt, and possibly the rest of the car. Depending on what compressor you got, and whether the sensor is even included there, it could be the source of your issue.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

The new compressor I installed is Denso brand. The sensor is in the bottom of the compressor and I highly doubt that it along with the old one was both malfunctioning. I’ve read the thread and I can’t lie if I didn’t say I was a little confused but I’m still digesting it. I did run across something in my research that a bad expansion valve can be a culprit also. A pain to get to but that may be my next plan of attack
