Hi,
Well I suspected that since both license plate bulbs and backup bulbs were out that it could be a wiring issue. I was hoping not.
I replaced both reverse light bulbs and that didn't help.
So we wiggled the wires under the left trunk hinge and the license plate lights flashed on and off.
So then I started unraveling the brittle electrical tape and then removed some of the plastic tubing and I found 4 cut wires. Dooh!
Two wires remained intact. The brake lights, turn signals, and tail lights in the taillight assembly built into the rear quarter panels work.
What is the best way to reattach these cut wires? There is almost no free play or slack to bring them together.
Are there some sort of flexible long butt connecters that might work?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Only way to repair this correctly is get a piece of spare harness (can be from most anywhere on a Toyota), cut the wires back on both ends and solder news wires in. Or you can use generic wires but I find them low quality.
