That was a good idea concerning the removing of just the cd player and tape player. Maybe I could install an alpine cd reciever and just buy a tape player to go below it. If the black cd player came out wouldn't that mean that the volume button and the other buttons on the side would have to go with it? Just wondering. Does anyone have any pics???? Thanks.

What does that mean!?
I think he's saying, he messed up his nice stock interior with aftermarket customizing.........that's what I read.
Cheers.

sk8er251cc,
As far as Alpine goes, look at the 9815 much more bang for the buck!
As far as the ES 300 is concerned, i have to agree, stock would look much better...........some cars are just to tricky to customize and still keep a nice stock luxury look, and I think the ES300 falls into that category.
Good luck.

yes you're right, most aftermarket systems will give you better sound..... BUT if you want awesome sound and stock look..... try any nakamichi in dash changer, since lexus used them anyway, most nak systems match very very well.... DIAMOND AUDIO also makes very stock looking aftermarket systems. they match great in the lex, and im pretty sure that diamond bough nak....
oh yeah, and both nak and diamond sound SWEEEEEET

You will all see. We're going to do it and it will take some work, but is definitely feasible. The plan for now is to take the stock wood surround for the HU that has the ****/buttons, and cut that so that the new HU will fit in it, and use that for mounting so that it will be perfect, then put the new wood peice with a cutout for the new HU on top of that. Luckily Circuit City has wiring harnesses (they should) so that should make this much easier. To those of you who think the Lexus has a good stock sound system: Maybe for, well, stock, but it's complete crap compared to aftermarket components. Sorry if I sound like an *** in that statement, but it's 100% true, even my friends SC430 with the Mark Levinson system is, well, horrible compared to a ~$400 HU, ~$400 components, ~$400 sub and ~$300amp. Obviously it costs more, but it looks a lot better, and sounds a TON better... and well why not in a Lexus, obiously you shouldn't be driving a newish Lexus if you can't afford to mod it. Oh, and to those of you who think stock looks better. Sure, if you do a ghetto job then it will look, well, ghetto. But I hope you all realize how pimp it is to have a custom made dash setup with an aftermarket head unit. From the looks of it, he'll be one of the few, and Elite I might add, on this forum that have even dreamed of it. I'm very proud of how his car is coming along, and it's only going to get better. I just need to teach him how to get the most out of forum, heh.
