Default '04 ES330 Transmission

Well, today I finally went to my dealer to test drive the new ES330. I thought that the 330's transmission was supposed to have eliminated the '02-'03 ES's quirks......but it didn't! It was exactly the same as my '03.....(hunting for the proper gear to shift into, on occasion). So, no need to upgrade my car to the latest model, since I wouldn't be gaining anything. I didn't even notice better acceleration w/ the higher HP engine, but I attribute that possibly because the model I tested wasn't broken in yet.(53 miles on the odometer).

Alan, I think we are finding the problem lies in Lexus' combination of the electonic throttle, tranny and ECU.

I think you're right! I'm learning to live with it though........not that it makes me happy. Aside from this, I think it's a great car.

This appears to be the concensus amongst those who have issues with the '02/'03 tranny and have test driven an '04.

Talking thanks for INFO

I was all upset ,after we bought an es300 in Feb to learn , new car with more hp & tranny fix.Strangley
my wife has never complained about a shifting problem., nor did I feel one in both cars we test drove.. one dec
2002 production & second one Jan 2003, Bought dec car as it had Bridgestone tires, instead of Michelins. The Michelins made more tire noise, Thanks again, will not do "upgrade" for sure now, Was not planning to anyway, as its not reveresable, and Wife has not complained, I drove a gs430 and found it down shift was totally unaccepatable, especially considering it 290 hp. Es 300 shifts better,
