Oil leak from cam/crank seal traveling to oil filter?
I have a small oil leak that is running down below the oil filter along the front engine mount, then it travels underneath the engine and drips onto the exhaust causing some mild smoke. Is it possible that the source of this oil is from the timing belt side (cam seal / crank seal) which are definitely leaking badly and need to be repaired, or could this be some other source? It's definitely not the VCG (recently replaced).
Here are some pics.

If that is from cam seals they must be leaking horribly most of the oil is trapped by the timing cover. I'd wash the engine bay start the engine and watch. Is that a salvage yard engine?

I'll try cleaning the engine like you said and monitor it. Yeah the cam seals are leaking horribly and that entire side is black with caked oil. I laughed when you asked if it's a salvage engine 'cause no it's not. But let's just say it's been severely neglected.
