Hi!
So 051... its a white, then a translucent pearl, then clear. What is the code for that base white? Is it plain old 040? I ask because I have some, and i have a VERY small job I need to do, and it would be nice to order only a small amount of the pearl. I have the 040 and the clear, i just CANNOT get a solid answer if the white is plain old 040.
Thanks =)

Not sure I understand the question, you're saying the paint is 2 stage white then clear? What does the door tag say.

Hello,
Long time no see..
051 is a White Pearl color, so it has a White base coat, then a Metallic Overlay, and only then Clear Coat. It seems like the question is about the White Base color to avoid purchasing jars of each layer that will never be used again.
Understanding the question is only half the battle though, and I don't know what they use for the Base Color. The easiest way to find out may be to visit a place that sells paints, they will know for sure, but it doesn't mean that everyone will tell you unfortunately, still worth asking though. If nothing else, try spraying a test panel and compare the results with the car, it seems like the Metallic Overlay is far more important in that regard, and you will have to find a place that's willing to sell you just that, without the Base Color, which can be tricky as well.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you both :-) Yes, 051 is simply a plain white, then A translucent pearly metallic layer, then traditional clearcoat… It is quite likely that the white on the bottom is already on my shelf, but I cannot get anybody to give me this answer Thank you

A thread that LeX2K linked shows the Part Numbers of Touch-Up Paint for both Base Coat and Metallic Overlay, the former is a plain old 040 White, so it does seem like that's what's been used as a base coat.
With that, I would still visit a paint store and ask them to be completely sure, as Touch-Up Paint is not meant to be perfect, so it could end up being a simple cost cutting measure.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Confirming from one of my cars - 051 is just the pearl coat. 040 is the base white paint color
To touch up properly, you need to use a layer of primer, then 040, then 051, followed by a clearcoat
