Greetings again Lexus Guru's, Im back again with an issue on the 94 Lexus ES 300. So I forget which engine it is that I have in this model but I believe it is the one where the oil cap is on the right hand side. Closest to the drivers side. A few of my threads have it in here some where because I was having an issue with a leak and it ended up being the cam seals, both of them. Now i only have an oil pan leak. But Anyhoo,
Now for some reason my AC wont stay blowing cold. When its sitting still it blows hot AF but when I get going it blows cold but it only blows coldest in the middle dash vent, the left drivers side vent blows way less cold. The Fan on the radiator turns ever so slowly when the AC and the blower is on high. I can literally stop the fan from turning, it never kicks on high and when I unplug the sensor, the fan kicks on and runs like crazy but when I plug it back in it slows back down. This partiicular model only has ONE fan directly in the middle of the car on the radiator, there are not two fans. Just seeing if someone can lead me in the right direction before I start part shopping.
The fan on your car runs on hydraulic pressure from the power steering pump is that system in good shape? You unplugged the sensor on the power steering pump? With the A/C on the fan should speed up a fair bit, I had a 1993 with the same fan setup it did this.
Good morning,
No, So as ur standing in front the car, on the right hand side of the fan and radiator theres a silver canister that has the Low side of the AC line on it and I unplugged the sensor that was on it. The High side of the AC is way up on the fire wall of the passenger side. I'll have to look again but I had no clue that the fan ran off the pressure from the power steering. Here are the pics I took. The line thats coming from the fan looks like it goes to an AC line or is it like you said, thats a power steering line? and the sensor I unplugged is right below where my finger is pointing
That's the A/C high/low pressure switch the circuit has a fail safe so if that sensor goes bad the fan runs on high. You are simulating a bad switch by unplugging it. Power steering lines for the fan run all the way around the engine, literally. There is a solenoid on the power steering pump this is controlled by a computer behind the glove box this is what varies the fan speed based on several inputs.
It is essential on your car that the power steering system is in good working order since it also runs the radiator fan.
Roger that, Roger that!!!! Im all over it like flies on ****!!! I actually had the powersteering pump replaced. I wonder of he didnt hook something back up right on it or if he didnt hook that solenoid back up. Im not getting any engine lights except for the freaking EGR. Ive replaced that thing already and i keep getting the engine light for it. As for the computer behind the glove box, I would get a light for that if it wasnt acting right? Its between the solenoid and that computer is where my problem is then?
Check the connector for the solenoid on the PS pump maybe it's not connected. Near zero chance the computer is bad, it's a stand alone box the engine computer doesn't "know" about it. What code exactly do you have for the EGR?
