Default Even though premium called for, might non ethynol regular better?

My guess preferred gas to use 94 ES300 3.0 V6

1 Non ethynol regular, ethynol is sticky corn syrup i have read. $4.99 gallon
2 branded premium
3 branded regular
4 unbranded premium
5 unbranded regular $3.15 gallon
Greensboro, NC June 2024
Non ethynol premium might be best, just dont know if its avail.

Any comments? Do i have it all wrong?

Hello,

I am pretty sure it's the Ethanol that is used in the Fuel, not Ethynol, former being substance aptly known and broadly favored by every bar patron all around the globe.

In the car though, the main purpose of Ethanol is to dilute the limited amount of actual Petrol, making the fuel more sustainable. Other than that, it helps boost the Octane Number as it's harder to burn, and it "should" burn a bit cleaner, even though it stores a bit less energy than Petrol, helping with pollution at a cost of negligible increase in fuel consumption. The biggest issue you may run into with it is that Ethanol likes to absorb water from the air, but that will only be a concern if the car is sitting for a good while, then you would want to replace the fuel before starting the car, it's perfectly safe to use otherwise.

Regular vs Premium - a debate as long as those two tiers became a thing. I've noticed that even though Premium is more expensive, my 2000 ES300 manages to eat less of it over the distance driven compared to the Regular fuel, offsetting the price difference and making my engine run happier. In your case however, it does seem like the fuel is more expensive in your region, so the question there comes down to how much you are willing to spend on fuel. To answer the question, unless you pour half-water, half-random stuff in your tank, neither Regular nor Premium fuel won't make the car stall at random, especially like in your case where the car simply shuts off like if the bottom fell out..

P.S. Not sure what you mean by Unbranded fuel, do you have any random gas stations that don't have any labels on them..?

Hope this helps and best of luck!
