Well, if your car has been put on the ship in Japan, they should know when it will hit the port of entry and the approximate trucking time to your dealer. The dealers get a detailed printout for all the cars destined for their dealership.

This surprises me! I live in the New York City area and all the dealers have a pretty large stock of 330's.
What options did you order with this car? Maybe the dealer gave you a very low ball price on the car and he's making you wait 'cause he can sell it for a higher price?

Generally, a Lexus dealer can call other dealers to locate the type car you're looking for to see if they have one in stock.........they usually do, but as I asked before, did you get some sort of super deal on this car you ordered? Where in NY do you live? If you're close to me, I could ask my dealer about availability of this car you're looking for. I'm on very friendly terms with them.

If you wanted an incredibly common combination, say a Crystal White/beige interior with the promotional options package with leather, wood wheel and base stereo (no NAVI), I'd be concerned that the dealer was trying to put one over on you. But finding a blue/gray (most blue ones have the beige leather) that's additionally loaded with NAVI/ML is highly likely to be a special order. Out of all the 02-04s I see on eBay and AutoTrader, I'd say less than 20% have the NAVI/Levinson package. I take that to mean that the vast majority of new ES's in dealer inventory don't have NAVI/Levinson, either.

The ratio of ES's equipped with NAV/ML is about 1 in 30, so it might be more diificult to find a Blue Onyx Pearl with the Gray interior. It just so happens that the ES330 is NOT offered with a Gray interior! The two interiors are either, Ivory or Light Charcoal Leather. I'm assuming when the word Gray is used you mean, Light Charcoal. Also, last week my dealer got two Blue Onyx 330's in stock, 1 with NAV/ML and 1 without, and both had Light Charcoal interiors.........so it's NOT that unusual.

Reminds me of when I purchased my ES. They strung me along for weeks, and when i called and said I was purchasing elsewhere, they magically had the car for me.
Unless you're custom ordering, only agree to purchase if you can get a specific VIN off of their dealer allocation list. If they can't do that, don't give them anything more than basic contact info.

I live on Long Island, so i went to Lexus of Smithtown (we bought 2 cars from them before a 95 LS and a 2004 RX 330, were a family of lexus's). I went to the same sales person who sold us the RX. because he knows us well. Even the Gerernal manager knows us by name......hehe
amf1932 you said a dealer near you got a blue with nav/lev with light charcoal interior, may i ask what dealer this is... if its smithtown... i'm going to be very upset!
well i'm gonna try calling again now...wish me luck!
