ABS/Traction in Snow (97 ES)
Hey everybody,
This is my first winter with my 97 ES, and I've never had a car before with ABS and Traction control, so its all pretty new to me. We're having a nasty snow storm today and I was curious to see what was normal behavior for these things. When i press hard on the breaks, they sort of push back on you and make a really horrendous noise. If you only go lightly on them however they act normally. And the traction control, when its applying breaking you can very clearly hear the sound in the cabin. Are these things supposed to make so much noise, or should I have my breaks examined?
Thanks!

all working as according to manufacturer's design.
hint, if when applying hard pressure on the brakes and the ABS engages, do not let up on your foot. The pedal will pulsate normally. The design of the abs is to rapidly apply pressure to the brake pads and release pressure just before wheel lock up and then reaaply pressure and release. This happens at an extremely fast rate and noise can be heard.
Read the manual, it is all covered in there. if you don't have one, then register you car at Lexus.com and they will send you one.
my first snow storm/blizzard is hitting here tonight.
