Question High RPM's

Hi, this is my first thread here so sorry if this was topic was mentioned before.
We have 2000 ES 300 with 45K and I noticed when I start a car the RPM goes up to 2-2.5 K and will stay like this for about a minute and then goes slowly down...
Is it normal for Lexus?

Ditto here for my '01 ES. This is especially noticeable in cold weather starts, but as long as everything else checks out OK in your car, you shouldn't need to worry about it.

Welcome to Club Lexus. The "Search" feature at the top of the page is a very useful one, get to know it, it'll be your best friend

Going to Advanced Search and typing in idle *rpm* in the search field, while searching under the ES section yielded these results

As others stated this is fairly normal. Although 2k-2.5k is a little on the high side, I'm sure the cold weather during the Philly Winter time is a factor in this situation.

Enjoy your stay here.

Cool

Ditto to the hoe.

Any RPM above 0 has been proven detrimental to engine life.
