Hi,

Just wonder how I can replace the studio with a new one, since the quality is not very good.

By the way, the standard studio comes with subwoofer on the shelf, can I replace it with amp and external subwoofer.

Sup, You have the Mark Levinson Audio or Lexus Premium System? Anything can be removed and modded in trunk, shelf. interior head unit and middle console equipment is harder work with. Navigation ? You have to remove lots. Removing subwoofer you need to rip out interior panels. Recommend fellow Club Lexus Member BananaGS DIY.

This is his GS. 2003 ES should be similar.

If you're not too experienced in audio systems, i'd recommend finding someone who is, (not audio store or dealer, they charge way too much) . You can buy the external amps, batts, and subs yourself.

Mine is Lexus Premium system. I wonder why it comes with TAPE nowadays? Please help how I could replace the original stereo with a 1-DIN system?

it comes with tape cause some of us older members still have tape.
(I think if I look up in the attic, I will find some 8-tracks, too).

I remembered reading somewhere that certain '02+ ES's don't have a cassette player in their stock units, perhaps from those with the NAV systems. Is this true?

The '02-'03 ES's equipped with NAV have a cassette player. In the '04 ES they eliminated that feature because the NAV computer now takes up this space. The computer was in the trunk compartment in the '02-'03.
