Default 2004 Es330

Can anyone voucher for me that this is a good, reliable car?

Is there any known problems for 2003, 2004 models?

I am getting conflicting 0-60 times on the new model. I am getting a 7.1 from lexus.com and a 8.1 from the brochure. Can anyone clarify?

BTW. What is the nav like on the ES? (controls, audio and all that)

Thanks,
Paul

camtrek,

Yes, the 2004 ES330 is a GOOD, RELIABLE car.

0-60 time is 7.1-2, it feels significantly quicker than the GS300. The 8.1 sec reading you saw refers the 2002-2003 models with the 3.0 V6.

As far as problems with the 2004's, I'll let the new 2004 owners answer that as they would know best. But from my knowledge, I can't imagine there would be any problems.

Are contemplating replacing your problematic GS with an ES? Good Luck with whatever you decide!!!

Thanks for the reply, I am considering replacing the GS with the ES, after driving a 2003 my heart opened up to it. I need the FWD for winter also so that's a plus.

If you're a GS fan, they're coming out with an all-new GS next year, with AWD. Lexus will debut the new model in January, and it will go on sale in the US late next year. But it probably won't be until the year after that before you can get some decent discounts on it.

It will be released late fall 2004, probably come to Canada in spring 2005. I'm not gonna wait that long for it.

well if you haven't read my post already... i went to pick up my car but didn't drive one home..... I sat in what the dealer thought was my car but wasn't... any way... the only thing from playing around with "my car" with nav is that the audio is through the nav. and in order the go to your presets your have to hit extra buttons....which will take sometime to get used to. Also thev vol. button on the ES is a bit small but your should get used to it. I did in the 5 mins of sitting in the car.....

The engine is whisper quite, esp when you get the ML pumping....

Default Camtrek...

I've had my ES330 for around 3 months now and will have a little over 7,700 miles on it. I have not had any problems with my car! My only complaint, however, is the lack of Satellite radio and the soft sounding turn signal indicator. The ML sound system is awesome! As far as reliability, it's a Toyota, they build them one way, reliable.

As far as known problems on the 2004, I've read of a couple of transmission complaints, but I feel that it's more of a driver's behavioral issue than a transmission issue.

The acceleration is well suited for the car of this size. I don't pay too much attention to the 0-60 times since many variables such as trunk contents, driver weight, and weight distribution will affect it's owner's performance. The local dealerships are selling the car as 0-60 in 7.1.

Lastly, the navigation is a neat toy to have. The controls are very basic and easy to learn. It took me a good hour to learn the controls after watching the cd and reading the manual. Visit the Lexus website to learn more about the navigation controls.

What kind of CD did you receive to learn about the Navigation? I never got anything like that with my '03.

My owners manual came in this fancy little binder. Inside that binder was a group of manuals and a cdrom for a pc to teach navigation controls. The cd can also be placed in an audio cd and a narrarator will guide one through the navigation controls while in the car. The dealer I bought my car from had a stack of these in a file cabinet. Chances are, many other dealerships fail to give these to the customers.

If you haven't registered on Lexus.com as an owner, you may want to do so. In fact, there is a section in there to request manuals. I'm sure they'll just mail one cd to you if you let them know you didn't get it.

the nav system for 04 is from a different manufacturer. The maker of the 02/03 Nav probably didn't make a tutorial CD.

It's true the Nav system on the '04 is slightly different than the '03, and they didn't make a CD to explain the operation on the '03, but I just spoke to Lexus parts and they said they'd give me the '04 CD if I wanted it. He said they're very similar in operation, besides it's free!
