Default Change tail lighting

I change the bulbs in my 92 ES so that it will light up like a 95 es. Instead of all three bulbs lighting up only two on the bottom row light up. Now all I have to do is shave the es300 badge and then I'm going to paint tail lights all red.

Nice job, the single row of lights does look cleaner. Did you find a way around having the "tail lamp" out indicator light up on the dash?

Sweet job Stefan I've always wondered which one of you '92-'94 ES owners are gonna do that mod since that can be done in like 10 min

Thanks guys.
If you take metal clamps like the ones you use to connect speaker wire and insert them in the bulb sockets you can trick the indicator light into not comming on. Just make sure you wrap the clamps with black tape.

are you sure they wont get too hot? although that sounds like a good idea, but id think you would need to put some kind of resistor in there...

Never thought of that, I thought the black tape would prevent any kind of electrical damages.

I took the clamps out for now because I have to drive to NC Monday night and I wasn't sure of my makeshift connections, so I will be looking at that yellow light on the dash for 8-9 hours.

Or you could put the brake light bulbs back into place so the yellow light indicator won't be an eyesore for the drive. Just a thought

Have a safe drive down there and a good holiday! Are you and Derrick driving together?

just remove the indicator bulb. getting into the dash is a gravy job. simply untwist the bulb. never see it again. that light is useless anyway. (IMO)

I was scared to open my dash, but that sounds great would you mind walking me through it?

Doug
Derrick is leaving a day after me.
