just discovered this forum. have few questions on my es 300 1998.
firstly, is it me or that i feel there is a lot of "free play" when steering
secondly, been searching forum on how to change to HID with installation steps from front halogen headlights. but no definite steps on how to do it or order from.
thirdly, i feel like i am just "gliding" when driving, how can i add more feel to the road.
thanks,
my car is stock.

hey noobie, welcome to the club! since i got the same yr model, maybe i can help u out. i dunno exactly what u mean by "free play" but im guessing you're reffering to torque steer which the es does a lot of. HID... i dont think its been done yet on our cars and i remember one of the members saying how the lamp housing might not work well with HID b/c of its reflectiveness. as for that gliding feel, thats quite common for ES as you're driving in high speeds. u want more feel for the road, get 17s or 18s and lower your car... there are a lot of people in this forum that'll give u advice for a proper setup.

to get rip of those "free play"
-strut bar/brace (solara stock one/ after market for camry and solara)
-F/R sways
-17" w/ low profile tires..
but it still wont give u road feeling like the camry or civic.. since our p/w steering would do adjustment automatically to "factor spec" . cuz while i put on my 17" wheel the wheel is still light as feather.

thx guys for all the input...
regarding the free play, i just feel you can turn the car with just one finger...not used to that , like in the gs or even the camry 2001 , little more effort required to turn....my stock wheels are 15 chrome,5 spoke.
i asked the dealer about upgrading to HID and he asked for 1200 bux. wish we can just do it ourselves...
do you think there is noticeable difference upgrading to 16 inch.
