hole in exhaust
my 92 developed a hole somewhere in the header pipe so the mechanic said $500 for the part and labor. I looked into it and found out i can get the header pipe online for $150 vs the mechanics $305 . Has anyone else done this to their car before that could offer any advise? Thanks in advance.

Is it the header pipe or the flew pipe section? I have had to replace my flex section 3 times now and the part is usually 300 bucks. It seems that any time i scrape the bottom of car, the flex pope is what gets damaged. I dropped my car off at an exhaust shop to get it fixed again today....

its the header pipe, i got under the car and checked it out and the mechanic said the same thing as well, im only calling it the header pipe because thats what the parts site names it as, the pipe has a bunch of sections, but yea it comes right from the headers.
