Question How do I increase my horsepower? 98-ES300

What is the best way to increase my stock horsepower for my ES300? In addition, I want to start adding to the engine starting with my exhaust..then what? Any information would be great!!!

I would try looking for parts that fit the 97-99 V6 toyota camry, this might get you an Idea of parts you might want.

not worth it IMO

for the $4000 price tag +installation it only produces about 50 hp at 6psi to the wheels

with $4000 + installation i could do a bs turbo setup and make more hp at higher psi

custom turbo > trd supercharger

The supercharger can be found for 26XX new at www.toyotaparts4u.com it is the most reliable way to boost the 1mz. It also has an electronic boost control so that the first gear doesnt get boost. The jp headers, y-pipe and cat-back should fit no problem check this site- www.jpperformancellp.com call and ask jose if it would fit. Their is now a REAL cold air intake being made by danny from www.solaraguy.com http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=6375

This is a package that URD has put together it includes most of the stuff that is reccomended when you go to more boost with the smaller pulleys that are available. http://www.urdusa.com/Merchant2/merc...Category_Code=

On that page you can see what the jp headers look like on the car.

Keep in mind that the es300's with vvti are not going to be able to be supercharged due to the dual throttle bodies. So basically you can-if money permits supercharge an es300. And with everything here you will be putting done about 250-270 hp to the wheels.

I talked to someone at Rod Millen a year ago or so (when i was considering getting a 97-99 ES) about performance options, and I mention the TRD supercharger for Camry and Solara. He said it should bolt up, however electronically it wouldn't work because of the VVTi. He said its a very complicated system, and unlike with Honda's VTEC, tuners haven't really been able to crack it because of the complexity.

Also.... does anyone have sound clips of an ES or Camry/Solara V6 with exhaust, i'm extremely eager to hear what it'd sound like!

The 97-98s didn't have VVT-i, (and also the single throttle body like the Camry/Solara). However, I know the ECU is different between the Camry, Solara, and Sienna (the S/Cs have slightly different part numbers), so it's definitely possible that the ES had a different ECU and/or transmission ECU.

I've seen overboost kits for the TRD S/C that take it to 343 HP at the crank, which is almost as much HP as the old body style E55 AMG! (and more than an E46 M3!). Yes, I know that that would require many more changes (completely rebuilt auto tranny, those numbers would destroy the stock auto in short order), better headers/exhaust. But imagine a 343 HP 97-98, in that dark indigo blue color, with OEM wheels!
