Question Oil filters & Oil plug gasket:

Hi everyone,

I have a couple more questions on the 2001 ES here......this time to do with oil filters the oil plug gasket.

- I assume that the "Lexus" oil filter for this car is the identical filter as in the Toyota Camry or would I be mistaken? And if I am, what exactly is the difference(s)? I prefer to use the Mobil 1 oil filters (M1-102) but I am just courious.

- I usually replace the oil plug gasket every second or third oil change.......does the Lexus use a metal ring around the plug or a rubber type gasket? Am I changing this item on time or too early or late? I didn't see it even mentioned for the maintenance listings on any of the Lexus websites.

- Does the car require a "lube" or just an oil & filter change?

I've seen that link for many years, and the last time it was updated was, 05/25/99! I think the results are no longer valid since these tests were done over 5 years ago. Lots of things change in that period of time.

Lexusfreak:
No, I got the spoiler from spoilerdepot.com and had my dealer install it for me. The main reason I did this was I didn't like the spoiler offered by the Lexus dealer since it was the same spoiler used on the Toyota Camry's. I wanted something a little different.

I have the same spoiler on my car and did purchase and had it installed it at my Lexus dealership. They, however, also get it from www.spoilerdepot.com. So it all depends on the dealership as to what spoiler they offer.
