ehh...i'd rather not have to clean the filter and just get new ones every time. tell us if you really feel a difference once its in...minimal gains with this stuff.

I ordered mine from Performance Products at $37 (and free shipping) for my '01 ES. There have been past threads discussing gains and losses from using a K&N air filter in our ES's. Do a search for "k&n filter" and browse at your leisure

pay the $50, you make it back in gas savings within the year.

my mileage went from 19-21mpg around town to 22-24mpg just with the K&N.

better gas mileage with k&n huh? that's the first time i've heard that, but i'll add it into my considerations for getting one. thanks stevej.

btw, do you have an explanation for the better mileage? i dont mean to knock down your discovery, but it just seems very very peculiar...

only explanation i can think of is that perhaps with the better air flow, you got a leaner mixture. And with the same pressure on the gas, you were letting in more air. any thoughts? very very peculiar...

this has been hashed and rehashed. I'm sure you will find the threads if you search.

I majored in medicine not physics, I can only begin to wonder why it is so. Less restriction on air flow is the only thing I can think of. Other than that it was the only variable that I changed and my mileage went up. I don't question as to why, I just accept it. Several other people have found the same thing.

That's a good way to put it Stevie. I wholeheartedly agree with you that improved mileage (also proven in my '01) always gives you peace of mind

I agree with steviej, I also purchased one for my 01' ES about a week and a half ago. I have put about 500 miles on the car since it was installed & notice a difference with better gas milage & a slight inprovement in overall performance (of course I have done a major tune up also and have replaced spark plugs, fuel filter, pcv valve, Mobil 1 5W 30 synthetic oil). I have used the K & N filter in my previous Maxima without any problems & cleaning the filter is very easy. Good Luck!

By the way steviej, I think both our american league east teams are in some serious trouble with the addition of A-Rod to the Yanks!! Although I still think they need some starting pitching, mainly a quality left handed starter.

Cool

Bought one last summer & swear the top speed is 2 mph more...
Ya won't notice anything in power, but the milage will go up 1-2 miles cause the old filter is dirty I guess LoL!
