Default Hesitation in my 2004 ES330

Has anyone experienced a hesitation at low speed acceleration with a 2004 ES330? Lexus claims the problem doesn't exist.

I have appx 13,000 miles on my 2004 ES330 and have had only one episode of hesitation that disappeared once the car learned my driving habit. When compared to the 2003 I test drove, the hesitation is more prevelant on the 2003.

read here: I am pretty sure 04 owners are seeing similar problems as 03 and 02 owners did.

Default arriving late to this thread...

I'm interested in purchasing the '05 ES330 and have been reading a bit about problems with hesitation and lack of acceleration during merging from reviews and such. I've always had a passion for Lexus vehicles and own a '97 ES300 and love it; I'm concerned about this problem being reported and wondered if there has been a resolution to your thread?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Lexus has made 'tweaks' here & there since the 02 model year, but the problems still exists due to the laws of emissions the U.S. No Canadian ES models from 02+ have this problem because the emission laws are less restrictive. There might be other factors, but that is the main one I have heard about.

We own a 2005 ES 330 and a 2003 ES 300. The 2003 model we own has pretty good transmission performance, though not great. Our 2005 is WORSE! (Under 15 mph if you stab the throttle it hesistates)

My feeling is that there is variability in these cars, as well as some people being more sensitive than others. Recommend you test drive the actual car that you are considering buying, instead of test driving one and expecting all cars to be the same. We test drove the 2005 we actually bought and noticed the problem, but wanted a car right away and were willing to live with the issue.

Default Lexus 330 Hesitation

The car in question belongs to my father. To my knowledge Lexus would not acknowledge any problem. With much complaining he was able to get them to service the car for free.

We just purchased a 2005 Toyota and what could be described as a "hesitation" is probably the low gear ratio. I believe it has the same trans as the Lexus

Talking Thanks for the speedy replies and thoughts!

Thanks guys for the replies... I've always had this romatic notion of owning a Lexus and since I purchased my first ES300 in 99 I haven't lost that love. I will definitely give it a test drive because I want to give the Lexus the benefit of any doubts. I WANT another Lexus!

As the car learned your driving style, It makes a shift point.
It happened only when i drove it for the first few days. After that Its all smooth.
Its normal and common for an upscale Japan Toyota product. It happened in our Toyota Crown, Toyota Cressida, Toyota Celsior and our Alphard!
Well you just need to get used to it!!
