two tone is actually coming back into style

many top show cars are changing color schemes to 2tone, not exactly the way our cars are 2tone, but 2tone nonetheless

Never really went "out" of style. The manufacturers......like with so many other things.....just stopped doing it for cost reasons, not because the public either liked or disliked it.

Other examples: back in the 1970's they got rid of separate vent windows even though the public as a whole liked them. Whitewall and color-stripe tires later also went out in spite of the public wanting them, also for cost reasons. There are many other examples as well.

i was talking about custom paint jobs, not OEM style, but you do make a good point.

All black. Two tone never looks good in my opinion.

You never see two tone colors on ferraris, porsches, and bmw's, I wonder why...

BMW M-cars sometimes have two-tone leather interiors. You are correct, though, on Porsches and Italian exotics....they are usually one color inside and one color outside.

Many SUV's and semi-off-road cars like the Subaru Outbacks have two-tone bodies.....one color above the beltline and another one (usually gray paint or cladding) on the bottom. The Honda Element is perhaps the most extreme example of this...it looks almost like a checkerboard.

this pole has been done already.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...light=two+tone

It think it all came down to the body style of the gen.
The 1st and 2nd generation were felt that 2 tone was preferred but the 3rd generation body style had more appeal with the one tone.

steviej.

Would you mind defining **** machine?....... Some of us on this forum are not familiar with that term.
Is that supposed to me a machine for Snobs? Yuppies? Wimps? Speed Freaks? Boy Racers? Geeks? Nerds? Maybe ALL of the above? Please define. Thanks.
