may be selling the lex
My 1992 seems to be nothing but problems lately. The new hole in the exhaust, needs a new fuel filter, just had a new coil and ignition wires put in. I'm at 122,000 miles now. I love my car but its getting pricy. I'm only getting around 16 miles per gallon of gas. I'm only 17 years old and I couldnt imagine having a better first car but something newer may be reasonable. I hate to say it but Im looking into a 98 honda accord for $5900 with only 58k. I'm not sure how much I can get for my car but I'm starting selling at $5000. Nothing can beat the styling of the es300 but I'm thinking I should sell while I still can get a reasonable amount for the car. Anyone know how much I can get for my car, with the repairs done? or anyone that would buy it? Its in great shape, perfect running condition and glossy exterior. I love this car but I may havto let the repair prices get the best of me. THanks in advance

1992 Lexus ES300 (122,000 miles)
Low retail: $4,777
Average retail: $6,077
High retail: $7,052
And I attached below a pricing overview of your ES from Edmunds.com. You are better off having the repairs done to get the most dollar out of your car. $5,000 sounds like a reasonable start, but don't expect $1K more from a private buyer. Hope this helps, and good luck with the repairs and sell

well I'd love to buy another es300 but I don't think I could afford one that would be that much newer or have much less miles. I currently have $2 grand saved for a new car and could have more like 4 grand by the end of summer but I can't wait that long if I am going to sell my current vehicle because of the value getting lower. If I spend $7,000- $7500 on another es3 I could get maybe a 96 with somewhere around 80k miles on it, but even thats hard to find. Don't get me wrong, I love my es and would love to continue owning a lexus because the styling is timeless and the quality is superb. Its just that for $5900 and a reliable car with 58k miles, it sounds too good to pass up while I still have the chance. Anyone seen any good es300s for sale lately that I could consider? Thanks again

Now almost a year later, with my '01 ES still very strong since the day of purchase (and my '96 ES out of my hands but still in my memories) , I'm glad I made the right choice, and that I have some peace of mind with a more reliable and solid quality-built car under my belt.
Basically jhenty, just go with what your heart says (or your instincts), and you'll definitely thank yourself later

I'd say my biggest fear is putting another 2 grand into the car and then having it be worth nothing or run into an unexpected engine or tranny problem. I'm still deciding what I'll do. I'll be going to test drive a few cars and go from there. Thanks again for your thoughts.
