97 ES Rear Defogger problem??

![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I'm looking to find out if anyone has had this issue and what they did to remedy it.
I figure these cars mostly have the same types of problem areas....
My Rear defogger is not working and the fuse is good, switch to turn it on is good as the heated mirrors work and that switch controls them both (rear defog + mirror heaters)......
I'm thinking maybe its the relay????.......anybody had this problem and if so what was the cause?? and most importantly what was the fix?
I have a 97.........
If you've had this issue and fixed it please let me know what you did....I dont wanna take it to the mechanic yet.....and I have the service manuel....I plan to test the voltage going to the rear defogger but figuered lemme ask around maybe someone can tell me whats up...that had and fixed the problem....
Thanks in advance!

use a volt meter to determine if current is even getting to the defogger tape on the window. If current is getting there, the relays and switches are ok. Chances are there is a break in the tape that is not allowing current to flow. If you are not getting current at the begininning of the tape on the window, then start looking into the wiring and relays. I am not sure if the tape is on or in the window. if it is applied on the window, it may be repairable by peeling it off and applying a new one.
If it is the tape is in the window....see what you glass coverage is
and go from there.

Thanks guys ....but in my original post I said I had the manuel and planned to test the voltage going to the rear defog....I basically wanted to know if anyone had the problem with an 97-2000 ES 300 and if so what they did to fix it , as most times the same remedies are used for the common problems....just trying to save time in going thru the whole testing problem....
Dont get it wrong, I appreciate the input but I kinda said that testing the voltage part.....
I was more so looking for anyone who may have had the problem to see if its kind of common or if its something i should go the whole testing route with...??
