This thing moves! I have already raced (stoplight drag) the IS300 and kicked his rear! I love to give M3 owners a hard time as well, off the line we are the same, but over a hundred they take me.
The local Lexus dealer could not imagine a 5 speed ES300 until he saw mine, then he checked out the specs and through some loophole it has a Japanese spec engine that puts out around 20 more horse power than a typical California smog engine.

0 - 60 on my 1992 Camry SE V6 5speed was 7.6 seconds. What's an auto IS300?
M3? No way without some cheating

yeah remove the first line and enter the rest and that's what i was chuckling about.
5 speed es300 would be very perky, but not M3 perky.

I have a very hard time beleiving that this individual would be able to keep neck & neck with an M3! with or without the 20 hp supposed gain. someone is royally full of doggie donuts

Haha, as a 5 speed owner, I need to chime in. I think someone on the carsurvey board is a little too excited about their car, lol. The 5 speed is really not that much faster that the auto and in some cases I think the auto would have the advantage due to the rough launches the 5 speed has due to weight and the fwd. 92 5 speed = low 16 or high 15 second car with a slightly better trap speed than you would get with an automatic. No way it would keep up with an m3. Japanese spec ES engine? Gimme a break Even if there was one, it would probably be slower, like the jap spec supra turbo motors

I think he forgot to mention the M3 was parked!
Aren't M3's a 13 sec car. Keep up with it until 100, give me a break.....unless of course his definition of keeping up = still seeing taillights?

Most of the auto magazine tests I have seen are in the 7.3 to 7.7 second range.
6-speed M Cars usually run 0-60 in the low 5's. ( I don't think there are any true M automatics....there are some SMT's....sequential manual transmissions).
