Are the belts in a Lexus under warranty beyond the standard warranty? I know some manufacturers warranty them forever. My buckle has cracked and I'm hoping they'll pick it up.

Warranty or not, DOT/NHTSA regulations call for replacement of the belts after some kinds of accidents....I don't know all the specifics, but it is required after some kinds of accidents because the belt webbing gets weakened after a strong occupant restraint and its strength is compromised.

This wasn't an accident affecting the webbing. My wife closed the belt/buckle in the door and it cracked the plastic part of the buckle. In an accident, if the belt tried to hold back my weight it would cause the "loop" of plastic the belt goes through on the buckle to fail.

I had the same thing happen to me as well.

JPI, are you implying that a dealer will replace it free within 10yrs or 100,000 miles ?

Yes sir, you are correct. Remember, toyota have to cover their behind. They don't want a lawsuit over a seatbelt.

mine es300 has the same problem on the seat belt and i called lexus they told me they only cover up to 90,000 miles.

Well I hope this is the case for Toyota Japan.. Because my belt is as loose as hell...

Get it taken care of before it's too late. I would suspect that the dealership will be more then happy to take care of something this important to keep from getting a lawsuit on their hands.
