Default Nitrous on an ES?

I hope this hasn't been covered anywhere at length, and if it has, I cannot find it for the life of me......

SO, I've noticed that nobody here has given their car a little extra boost and I was just curious as to why (as their surely must be a reason if nobody has done it).

Will the car not handle it? Does it not work on Auto's? What? (I am new to this by the way).

Thanks!

talk to mcelligott (sp?) on this board. He has a nitrous set up on his 92. IT IS a 5 speed though.

He's still the guy to talk to...

I'm a moron when it comes to installing/using nitrous, simply because I never plan on getting it.

You can add nitrous...but I would only go as far as a 50 shot. Anymore is danger. If you have ever seen the piston rods of a 1MZ-FE, they are literally paper thin. I've seen a few blown 1MZ-FE's that were shot with nitrous and the rods were bent as if they were made of rubber. It wouldn't be a wise idea to use nitrous with any 1MZ-FE V6 especially with VVT-i for long periods of time. I would suggest the TRD S/C for the Camry/Solara for you but since you have a 1999 based on your profile, the TRD S/C will not work on VVT-i equipped 1MZ's. Your car can handle it...but only for so long...especially with your 4spd ECT-i auto tranny. The engine was built for economy not front wheel drive burnout power.

Well ****. I knew there must have been a reason! Thanks for the post flip, even though it is sort os depressing than there really is now way to get even a little extra power out of this car. I've wanted a GS for quite some time now, but money does not/ willl not permit this for quite some time. Guess I'll just have to suffer for a while eh.........it's rough when you have to suffer through driving any kind of Lexus.

Thanks for the replies guys.......

Putting in more then minimal nitrous on a front-driver, besides overstressing the engine, would give you hellacious torque steer, though the automatic tranny would help filter some of it out.

Cool

As covered many times. camry/solara S/C won't work.

Also all ES's of that era use the Avalon ECU.

See the link HERE
To learn more about NOS.
btw 20hp/L.

I'll laugh when someone blows a 1mz doing a 60 shot for long

i dont see why it wouldnt fit besides clearing the hood

all youd need to do is swap out the ecu for a camry one

Ummm theres more to it than just the ECU and vaccum lines. It will physically fit on the block, but wont work properly with VVT-i 1MZ-FEs since it has a dual throttle body setup where as the TRD S/C for the 1MZ-FE is a single TB design.

You shouldn't have a problem install one into your ES then. Not necessary to use a Camry ECU since your ECU is literally programmed alike. You can use the Camry V6 Auto version for the S/C or the Solara. The only difference between the Solara and Camry S/C version is that the Solara version comes with the TRD Strut bar w/the kit.
