Angry ES troubles

Ok my friends got a 1993 es300 with an automatic. I know the transmission once went and they got it fixed (158,XXX miles haha). Anyway now the car shifts alil rocky and when u stomp on it, it's got nothing. It's very sluggish. It feels like if you start a car with a manuel trans on a highway in 5th gear from a stop light. I believe the passing gear is to blame, but i don't know if im correct or not. Anybody have any suggestions?

It's not wise to post duplicate posts. As for your tranny problem, I think that's an issue you need to resolve with the tranny shop you had your repairs done at.

Welcome to CL. BTW

Have the transmission fluid, filter and gasket checked out first of all. Make sure it's the correct fluid used, Toyota Type T-IV. Since the problem seems to be directly related to the transmission, I would check those things first.

Not quite. ES' that year used Dexron III for the tranny. They only started using Type T-iV on more recent models latter end of 99 to current.

Thanks for the correction flip. I'm already owned by the 2nd-gen ES!
