Just got our nex ES last week. I am looking to tint my windows. A friend of mine told me not to tint the rear window too dark due to the auto mirror. What's the most I could tint and not affect the rear mirror? 5% or 10%? Since ES comes with auto rear power shade I don't really need a drak tint either, right? Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks!

I just had 15% reflective tints put on yesterday
very sweet.. they are quite harsh on cars here in oz on tints... some cops check the window tint with their testers and defect the car accordinly if its illegal.
sucks
Plus racing = Lose your car for 6 months
Racing again = lose your car for life
they are harsh here now

I think any tint will affect the auto dimming mirror no matter the degree.
At least on mine with the 5% tint the auto dimming has become completely useless. But that's one little sacrifice I'm willing to make.

The 20% tint on my rear window doesn't affect the auto-dimming feature of my rear view mirror at all, although during the daytime it makes seeing the headlights of other cars just a bit hazy. No complaints at all

Next question: Shall I stay with Titanium film or is there any disadvantage? I won't mind to pay a few bucks more for better material so it won' t bubble or discolor.
Thanks!

I think titanium tint looks just a bit purplish to me (at least that's what my tint shop's home page shows here).
For mine, it was a "smoke" type of film (just like you see in the pics in the 1st page of this thread), and it's exactly the way I like it. No bubbles, no peeling (well if there are any, the shop will repair at no charge for the lifetime of my car)

The metallized tint shouldn't affect your radio reception or the navigation system, nor should it affect the use of the defroster lines, but make sure you ask the tint shop about it before laying down your purchase. Mine works perfectly fine on the radio and the defroster (originally I was hesitant going for it based on those worries). Also make sure the tint shop you plan to go to is a quality shop, not your run-of-the-mill shop run by unprofessional tint installers. Best to get the info from people or friends you know who had experience with specific tint shops.
