ES330/300 DIY (do-it-yourself) & technical tips
#32
Was wondering if anyone might know how to take apart the entire centre console of a 2002 es300. The reason being is that i use my ash-tray as a change box and often it over flows and my change falls into the little crack behind the ash-tray and it falls down there somewhere... and over time i probably have close to $100 in change which fell. haha. Can anyone help me through this, to open it up?

How to get headlights clean
people who have older cars have dirty headlights and they tried to wash it so many times but can never get it to be clear and shiny.

DIY: Seat Belt Replacement 97 ES300
Anybody have a step by step and tool selection list for replacing the driver's seat belt with automatic tensioner? I bought the belt (Lexus) and have read some posts that indicate a torx socket or two is involved. I don't want to open it up to find out that I need to go buy another tool. Anybody ever do one of these? Please advise, thanks!

92 thru 96 ES 300 Door Handle DIY Repair
My outer drivers door handle broke where the linkage conects to the handle... It's made of pot metal and after years of use mine cracked at the hole where the plastic clip locks the rod to the handle... This fix consists of this simple procedure;
Remove the door panel, and unplug all electrical conections to the door panel... Also remove the window switch from the door panel so you can still move the window for bolt acess... Peel back the clear plastic from the rear of the door and remove the black metal acess panel... Remove the rubber end seal at the rear of window and remove the inner window rubber... Remove the three window bolts... Lift and remove the window by sliding it out the door in the direction of the rubber end seal... Remove the clips to the lock cylinder and the door handle rods... unplug the wiring looms from the handle and lock cylinder...Remove the single bolt from the lock cylinder before you unbolt the handle... Unbolt the handle and you are ready for the simple repair...
1; The first thing I did was to make a mental note of the aproximate hole location and then remove the washer like area (indicated in white) by grinding it away with a dremel and a small chop saw blade... Then I slotted the handle where the washer area was to a depth indicated by the black dotted line
2; Then I found a washer with a 5/16 hole and reamed it to fit the plastic clip
3; Last but not least mix a batch of JB WELD and fill the slot with the mixture... Then coat the washer on the edge that will go into the slot and insert it... Let it set for about 2 hrs before removing excess with an exacto knife...
Sorry for the blurry pics my camera sucks

Smitty's ES coilover project (specifically on the '97-'01 gen but should work in all pre-'07 ES):
