It won't fit in a '95 ES. Only interchangeable within the '97-'01 ES models.

96-93?...Yes... They changed the design of the grill on the 97.. Not much from a 96 and down, will fit on a 97 and up. And vice versa!

Take it to a chroming place.. Thats what I am going to do.. But I would suggest that you paint the sides of the inner grill flat black to make the vents look like they run all the way across.. I dont like the look of a fully painted grill...

ES 300 grilles from 92-96 are available for $100 from teh dealer brand new and painted already to match. I think it is dirt cheap for a grille , i just wanted to be different and follow the design themeof the lower grille in the upper one.

Chroming the grille may not be as easy as you think as the metal it is made from is not steel but an alloy with a trade name of white metal for its colour. It is basically like a diecast toy car and has just as much strength . Softer than aluminum but cheaper and heavier as well.
I couldn;t even weld mine with a TIG( if you know what one is,it is a welding machine, tungsten inert gas) machine as it will not hold to it,only burn holes even with lower voltages.

Are the 95-96 grilles plastic or metal? (I can understand the 92-94, with the thinner slats, being metal) I was inspecting a small crack on the grille of my 96, and it felt like it was plastic (too light/soft to be metal, and didn't seem to have any metallic resonance when tapped).

It is also metal just aslightly different design but like i mentioned it is a diecast so it does not feel or act lik a regualr plain steel but more of an alloy.

Today I ordered a grill for my 1996 ES 300 for $110 brand new from Carson Toyota. That's not to bad for an OEM part. My old grill got old and fell off, not sure where but most likely on the freeway
