well...i think its time for a new engine or rebuilding time for me and my car. shes been overheating lately and loosing coolent every week or so. but then it got down to every other day.
i wont lie, but i have driven it while overheating without knowing , needle past the red
it smokes when i start up and everytime i hit the gas, like a thick, heavy, 6 foot trail of smoke pours out .
it saddens me that my car is out of commision, i hate leaving her in the garage when i go to school.
can anyone tell me what ive done? headgasket? cracked block? and an estimate on how to fix.
ps: would getting another engine or rebuilding the current one be cheaper?

driving it overheated can certainly crack the block and melt the piston rings to the cylinder walls. Can't really tell what you've done until you've opened up the engine. I will tell you this tho... running an overheated engine is worse than running an engine oil-less. REAL bad for your car.
