I have a 97 Es300 with 133k miles. I was thinking of replcaing it since its doesnt cost a lot for the part, but is it really wroth the hassle? Also, when you get a transmission fuild change at a autoshop, do they change the transmission filter, if not i am going to do one.

it is probably time to change your PCV valve. I would have done it at 60 or 90k depending on the performance of the car.
The tranny filter is a metal mesh filter and needs to be cleaned. If it hasn't ever been cleaned, then you may want to opt for new. Depends on what you see when you drop the pan.

For the $2.50 for it, why not do it every 35K miles.
I do my tranny drain and fill (with diff) every 35K and I only repalce the filter every OTHER time. But I always have a spare filter and gasket ($24 for kit) just incase my OCD kicks in!
