Had a loaner 04es330 yesterday. The only complaint I had was that from a stop or slow speed if you floor it there is what feels like a whole second delay before the car takes off.
I didn't think it really drove much better than my 95es300 with 80k.

Yep, I felt that both in the newer ES300 and ES330 when I had loaners.

But in terms of ride quality/comfort... There was a HUGE difference.

You can blame it on the throttle by wire system it has. The 34 mile 04 RX330 loaner i drove around for 500 miles this past weekend is the same way.
